Wealth expert and champion of environmental causes is honored with AZ Governors Award

Phoenix, Ariz. (June 29, 2010) — Kevin J Palmer, board member of the Arizona Archaeological Society (AAS), was presented with the Governors Award in Public Archaeology because of his passion for preservation and education in the field of Arizona Archaeology since 2001. ‘He exhibits cultural sensitivity and an awareness of social issues, with a positive energy that relates too many maintaining ethics that are beyond reproach,’ said Ann Howard, at the Arizona Statewide Historic Preservation Partnership Conference.

Palmer’s work in creating the Legislative Policy Committee to help inform policy makers about preservation was a monumental step in cultural awareness and fostering respect and recognition for his fellow AAS members. “As early as 2008 Palmer suggested breakthrough ideas to keep state parks solvent ahead of severe budget cuts,” said State Treasurer Dean Martin. Martin, who worked closely with Mr. Palmer, added, “In this time of economic crisis new solutions must be provided to protect Arizona’s historic assets as well as its economic future and public private partnerships is one of those idea I advocate.”

“Due to State budget issues, Homolovi Ruins State Park, a reserve of four prehistoric pueblo villages, has been closed and there may not be any maintenance done on the exposed structures, noted Palmer, a Scottsdale resident. “Arizona Archeological Society suggested a public private partnership at a meeting at Homolovi to perhaps organize a stabilization team to help preserve the ruins, utilizing members with recognized expertise and experience in this type of work and help reopen the park,” said Palmer. The park, located near Winslow, has served as a center of research for the late migration period of the Hopi from the 1200s to the late 1300s.

Palmer is currently the Managing Director for the SMA Institute a research consultancy specializing in the study of monetary-demographics for the development of improved business models and investment policy. Originally established by Wall Street and other C level executives it has a deep history of acuity and business leadership in aligning organizations to achieve breakthrough objectives.
